Exquisite. Deliciously rich-flavored broth. Perfectly sweet and salty. The way borscht should taste. No sour cream or cabbage chunks, just delicious liquid in a big bowl with about 6 dumplings. Comes with cucumber slices, bread, and SHMALTZ: The chicken fat that my dad spoke of in his childhood recollections. No one eats schmaltz anymore.
You would think that such a cheap borscht would be served in a place of equally cheap decor. Not so. This place is like eating in the hall of a Polish duke. Suits of armour at the door, candlelight, chandeliers, tall wooden chairs. An opulent yet intimate setting. A perfect borscht experience.

My favorite so far. The old-standby. Mature and yet full of excitement for the future. mellow at times, wild and flavorful at others. Dimly lit.
