The old ladies behind the counter gave it to me in a takeaway container after I had said I would be staying. We laughed at the mixup. Senility or elderly ears. This borscht was the product of veterans who were cozily losing their youthful grimness. And it tasted nice. Not surprising or bold or strong. But a lazily produced warmth and flavorfulness that I could still appreciate.

Neil’s getting on in his years now. He’s looking back at his life with a fuzzy sentimentality… but it’s still drenched in the warm distorted feedback that only Crazy Horse can make sound emotional. He’s still got it… but it’s heard through the filter of the years.
