This is homemade borscht. It was an experiment perhaps, not the mastered recipe of a grandma or Polish restaurant. And in it’s authentic flavor I found the warmth and love of a young family starting their lives in a nicely furnished Jersey City co-op. The borscht was good, because it wasn’t the result of a robotically repeated formula. And that’s why it was so good.

I purchased this CD at a record fair at a hotel in Upstate NY during my first semester of Freshman year of college. The CD is full of great music that Neil for whatever reason had determined not to reproduce in a manner of studio perfection for the masses. It is homemade and personal. It is warm and intimate.
